Texas Medicare HMO plans are one style of Medicare Advantage plans. HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organization, which is the type of network that the plan operates. Medicare HMOs are private plans that pay instead of Medicare. They cover all the same Medicare Part A and B benefits, but you access them differently.
If you enroll in an HMO plan, you will choose a primary care doctor and see that doctor first. He will set up a referral if he wants to send you to a specialist. You may only see providers who are in the network. You have no coverage outside the network except in emergencies.
