Texas Medigap Plan K is designed to offer lower premiums when you accept some responsibility for a portion of the cost-sharing in several areas. For example, in 2018 the Part A deductible is $1,340. With Plan K you’d pay $670 while your insurance carrier would cover the rest.
Another thing that makes Medigap Plan K different from most other plans is that it has a maximum out-of-pocket. This means once you have spent a certain amount out-of-pocket within the calendar year, the plan will pay 100% of your medical expenses. As of 2018, Plan K’s maximum out-of-pocket limit is $5,240.
Medigap Plan K might be a cost-effective plan for you if you don’t go to the doctor or hospital often.
