Medigap Plan G is a popular option for people who want lower premiums than Plan F. They are willing to pay the once-annual Medicare Part B deductible in exchange for a lower monthly premium. Often when you run the numbers Plan G is actually a better value. Also, Plan G is not being phased out in 2020 like Plan F is for new enrolleees.
We’ve also noticed that Plan G seems to have lower rate increases from year to year than Plan F. This is probably because you cannot get a Plan G under guaranteed issue rules. People must either be in their one-time open enrollment window, or they can apply with underwriting. It therefore attracts a healthier crowd with less medical claims.
